I was on one of my usual trips to Boots, when I stopped in my tracks as I saw L’Oreal had a new beauty product out. It was called ‘L’Oreal Paris Renewal Lash Serum’ (a bit of a mouthful!) and at £6.38, nearly a quarter of the price! I snatched it up and headed for the tills.
However, with no instructions on how to use the serum, I took matters into my own hands – I decided that for six weeks I would apply it to my pathetic little wisps at night, just before I hop into bed.
As I untwisted the tube, I expected to see a mascara wand, but my expectations were slightly wrong and instead I pulled out . . .
. . . A wand with what looked like a little hook on the end. At this stage, I was even more befuddled as to how I would put it on.
The Application Before I got to bed and have taken off all of my makeup I sweep the serum onto my lashes about three times. When I wake up, the serum has dried and has turned slightly stringy, but it washes off easily.

After a few days, I noticed a difference – my eyelashes were thicker than they were before. However, I wouldn’t say that they make my eyelashes any longer. Fuller impact - yes, fluttery – no. The difference isn’t hugely noticeable; it probably wouldn’t show to other people. After I finish the tube I don’t think I will buy another one because it isn’t hugely noticeable and if I’m going to spend money on something like that – then I want people to notice!! My lashes did get thicker then they were before - but after one week the effect were constant, they did not cotinue to get thicker nor did the effects wear off until I stopped using the seurm.
The Pros
The price is very reasonable and purse friendly, considering that it actually does something – particularly in comparison to other brands!
The results show within a few days
There have been no effects on my eyes – it doesn’t irritate them, it doesn’t make my eyelashes drop out (which I’ve heard happens to products like this!)
The Cons
The biggest disadvantage of the serum is that it does not have any instructions – which I feel is very lazy on L’Oreal’s’ part.
The serum dries slightly stringy – a bit like dried up glue!
The results don’t last long enough; if I don’t use the serum religiously, then the effects wear off almost straight away (but at £6.38 I can’t really complain!)
